This past week has been, well, pretty crap to be honest.
First off, last weekend, my Mum’s partner was taken to hospital having suffered a stroke, and is still there now, looking at a few weeks of physio to get everything back to where it was. Then, we find out that the house move which should have been happening now, is going to be delayed until mid-January due to the folsk we’re buying from changing the house they are buying; long story, can’t be arsed to explain it all.
Then, last weekend, things suddenly seem to go pear-shaped a bit at VN all of a sudden. End result of that is me spending the whole week making the agonising decision of what the future held for me and VN. With a great deal of sadness I took the decision to resign my position as Editor.
To be clear for any of you folks reading this who visit VN, this was simply a case of a number of different factors leading me to this decision, but none of them involved any problems with the guys that work on the site. Quite the opposite actually! I’m still damn proud of what we all achieved there, and I’m certain it will go on from here with the support of the guys behind the scenes. Watch out for some exciting changes in 2006.
In terms of journalism, I’m now open for offers of work. Personally I have always really enjoyed the writing side of it, something which I wasn’t able to fully give my attention to whilst helping run VN. So if anybody reading this is interested in potentially hiring me, feel free to drop me a line.
This will probably be my last post before Xmas and the New Year, so I hope you all have a really good time, and enjoy an excellent New Year in whatever it may bring!
Happy gaming!

Well the good news is that I was one of the lucky people to get my hands on a 360 on launch day! To say I was surprised is an under statement, but that was soon taken over by that feeling of being a kid in a sweet shop when I got the thing hooked up.
Now this is either going to encourage, or really piss off a few people reading this, but it is a sweet machine. Even working on my 3/4 year old widescreen CRT TV, it still looks stunning. Plus I’m glad to say that I’ve not experienced any of the ‘overheating’ issues noted by our cousins in the US of A. In fact, the thing was on for a good 6 hours straight doing various things on Sunday last and the power pack wasn’t even near to being hot, nor the console for that matter! (Check vagusnet.com for more info on the problems rasied after the American launch)
Now you’ll excuse me while I go find lots of wood to touch!!!
*disappears*
That’s better!
Sadly the downside to all this is that our house move, which was on track to complete on the 16th December, now looks like it won’t happen until the new year. Fricking marvellous that is, as I now feel like I’ve wasted most of the holiday I booked over Christmas. On a positive, at least I won’t be at work for much of the festive season (we only use get a maximum of 4 days off).
At VN, we’ve also got a little thing planned for the end of January/beginning of February to do with one of the launch titles on the 360, but I really can’t say much more as Paul would probably nail my parts to his wall! I’ve also just appointed a new Deputy Editor in the form of Ed Jones (aka Praetorian on the forums) so if you see him around there, say congrats to him.
Till next time folks, happy gaming!
